Quick: Who is your favorite comedian?
I’m a little bit partial to old David Cross stand-up myself, although there was a time in my life — college — when I could not stop listening to Mitch Hedberg. My roommate Kathryn and I downloaded his stuff from Napster, replaying it over and over again until our faces were paralyzed in laughter. I miss you, Mitch Hedberg.
Next Saturday, on April 9, the hilarious Chelsea Peretti is coming to Austin for Hell Yes Fest, a comedy festival sponsored by The New Movement. She will be performing at Red 7, and I have a pair of tickets to give away!
Chelsea is so awesome, and in more ways than stand-up. She used to be a writer for
The Sarah Silverman Show, and is currently a writer for
Parks and Recreation.
Also, does anyone remember the old (satirical) website, Black People Love Us? ALSO CHELSEA’S PROJECT.
So I can pretty much guarantee you’ll have a good time at her show. Doors are at 9:00pm, and
Eliza Skinner will be opening.
Hell Yes Fest officially kicks off next Wednesday, April 6 (the day before my birthday!) and runs through Saturday, April 9. It was invented by Chris Trew and Tami Nelson, whom we just adore here on Austin Eavesdropper. They are ring-leaders of Austin’s improv and sketch comedy scene, and besides being incredibly funny all by themselves, are simply generous, supportive souls. I’ve
performed with them a few times!
The full schedule can be found
here.
As a
special bonus to the pair of Chelsea Peretti tickets, Austin Eavesdropper sponsor
Jennifer Cunningham will make you something from her craft shop.
Jen is giving away one custom word bubble pin with your Twitter handle! If you’re not on Twitter, she can use your website.
To enter the giveaway, follow
Austin Eavesdropper on Twitter (for announcements regarding this and other contests), and leave a comment in the comments section. Remember to include your email, and a winner will be selected at random on
Wednesday at 12:00pm, April 6.
good luck!
